Our Publication for today: The Egyptian Diplomatic Club Book
The Egyptian Diplomatic Club book is an illustrated catalogue of a unique French neo-classical building, found at the heart of khedive Ismail's Cairo. A landmark conceived in 1908 by the French architect A
lexander Marcel (1908-09) to become an exclusive gentlemen's social club for princes and pashas. The publication presents more than 80 photographs that narrate the history of the building, its architectural details, and unique collection of Oriental paintings. This captivating catalogue takes the reader into a journey through time by displaying comparative photographs of its halls, salons, and restaurants from the 1920 and 2010. Furthermore, the catalogue touches upon the phenomena of clubbing in Cairene as an important component of social life, at the advent of the 20th century. The Book is available in either a printed book or in the form of a CD.
