Photo of the Day: Head of Amenhotep the Third Wearing The Double Crown
A head of King Amenhotep the Third, which was found in the Karnak Cachette, belonged to the torso of the same king that is exhibited in the Oriental Museum of Durham University in England. The two pieces were connected for a few months in Cleveland Museum of Art in the U.S.A and in the Louvre Museum in Paris.The statue, as well as the head, is made of steatite glazed with blue faience but the glaze has eroded from the head.The king is depicted in profile, wearing a short curly wig, surmounted by the Double Crown, which is adorned with the uraeus cobra, sign of royalty. Behind him are inscribed his titles such as "The Good God".

Une tête du roi Amenhotep Trois, retrouvée dans la cachette de Karnak, appartenait au torse de ce même roi exposé au musée oriental de l'université de Durham, en Angleterre. Les deux parties étaient reliées quelques mois au Musée d'art de Cleveland, aux Etats-Unis et au Musée du Louvre à Paris.La statue ainsi que la tête sont en stéatite, vernie de faïence bleue; le vernis de la tête est pratiquement érodé.Le roi est représenté de profil, portant une perruque de cheveux courts surmontée de la double couronne, elle-même ornée du cobra uræus, signe de royauté. Derrière lui, sont inscrits ses titres tels que «Le bon dieu».

رأس أمنحوتب الثالث مرتديا التاج المزدوج
رأس يخص تمثالا للملك أمنحوتب الثالث، عثر عليه ضمن خبيئة الكرنك، كان يخص جذع تمثال لنفس الملك؛ بمتحف الحضارات الشرقية بمدينة "درام" في إنجلترا. قد ثبتت القطعتان معا لبضعة أشهر، بمتحف كليفلاند للفنون في أمريكا ومتحف اللوفر بباريس في فرنسا
وقد صنع الرأس، كما صنع التمثال كله، من حجر الاستيتايت المزجج بالقيشاني الأزرق، وإن كان التزجيج قد تآكل عند الرأس
وقد صور الملك بوجهه
