Photo of the Day: Hanging Lamp with Inscriptions - Coptic Heritage
This round lamp has a curved neck and bears three inscriptions in Arabic; one is hammered on the bottom of the lamp, which is dotted with a band circled around the text. The second is carved on the lower part, composed of only one line, and the third, also very short, is dotted. A short sinuous line is carved between the writings.
The carving is in rows, with a flower, twisted lines, floral crowns, oval jewels, and a leafless palm branch on the parts that are heavily decorated. The central bands are shadowed.
Three chains are hanging in the form of rings with angels welded on them and a swollen element at the end, in addition to a curved ring and line. The rings of the chain are in the shape of the number eight and are organized as two rings welded together.

مسرجة بعنق مستدير مقوس، تحمل ثلاثة نقوش مكتوبة باللغة العربية؛ أحدها مثبت بالطرق على قاع المسرجة، ومحاط بشريط منقط. ونحت النص الثاني في الجزء السفلي، ويتكون من سطر واحد. نص النقش الثالث قصير أيضا، ومنقط. ونحت خط قصير متموج بين الكتابات
النحت في صفوف؛ بزهرة وخطوط ملتوية وتيجان نباتية وجواهر بيضاوية؛ وسعفة نخيل عارية من الأوراق على الأجزاء المزينة بكثافة. الأشرطة في الوسط مظللة
تتدلى ثلاث سلاسل، في شكل حلقات لحمت بها ملائكة؛ وبعنصر منتفخ في الطرف، إضافة إلى حلقة محنية وخط. وتتخذ حلقات السلسلة شكل الرقم "8"، ورتبت في حلقتين لحمتا معا
